Women Empowerment

Given the role women play in the Ugandan society, the need to empower is more urgent than ever for sustainable development and economic growth. In this we aim to support girls and women with what will empower them.

Tailoring Program

In 2020, a group of 30 enthusiastic women in our community approached us with a request: they wanted to learn how to sew. By learning to sew and by having access to sewing tools and supplies, village mothers can properly clothe their families for a fraction of the cost of purchasing newer textiles. They can also use their skills to sell handmade items.

This course could run for 7 months and train over 150 women each year. These women could graduate with an array of tailoring skills that allow become job creators and earn income. Many of the women could see their income increase as much as 150%! With the income they earn, many could be able to purchase their own sewing machine and set up successful enterprises. Additionally, they could develope a greater sense of personal accomplishment and pride.

Moving forward, we seek to expand the program by increasing its product offerings and its outreach to more families.

The tailoring group is always in need of sewing supplies. If you are interested in donating, please contact us at [email protected] or visit our donation page
